About the brand
Designated as the official state spirit by the Alabama Legislature in 2004, Clyde May’s Whiskey is a product
of Conecuh Ridge Distillery and was first legally produced in 2002. Before that time, the moonshine whiskey
was manufactured and aged under the watchful of Clyde May and his son from a still designed and
handmade by May himself - deep in the woods of Almeria Alabama. After May senior died in 1990, his son
Kenny sought a way to legalize his father’s legacy whiskey and collaborated with Kentucky Bourbon Distillers
in 2002 to produce a run of 4,000 bottles. Years and several bumps in the road later, including run-ins with
state liquor agents and government legislators – the brand has maintained its status as Alabama’s state
spirit. Clyde May’s Whiskey has gone on to win multiple awards including Best of Category at the LA
International Spirits Competition in 2015 and scored 93 points at the 2017 Ultimate Spirits Challenge.…

Not in the caliber of Special Reserves like rare and special select Weller's Special Reserve but does compete with similar Special Reserves, easily mid range 3.5 star rating.

This is an unusual and one of a kind tasting bourbon. Pears scent and vanilla. Tastes somewhat youthful.
